Throughout my career I’ve worked in media on both the agency and media owner side. As well as having been the Commercial Director for The Sun and the News of the World for 18 years, I was also the Commercial Managing Director of Trinity Mirrors National and Regional Publications, for both print and digital. With experience working in video production and regional commercial television I am also a partner in a creative advertising agency.
I am Campaign Magazine's resident "Agony Uncle” and also write a regular “Out to Lunch” column for Campaign, where I interview a media personality over lunch.
I have two miniature schnauzers, Barclay and Mabel, who helped me launch the spoof web site “ Paw Response Media”- which strangely ended up receiving enquiries from a few companies interested in working with them!
Having worked in and led marketing departments for both the private and public sector over 18 years, I come from a full marketing mix background. Whether it's been responsible for developing innovative strategies to increase footfall and make use of empty retail units as the high street woes took hold, to the roll out of the largest Microsoft education learning platforms in Europe or the promotion of the UK's market leading city TV network, no marketing project is too big or too small.
As a Chartered Marketer and Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, keeping abreast of the ever changing trends and developments within the marketing sector is key for me, as is undertaking regular training and CPD programmes. You can never stop learning!
With a love of good food, a good book and the odd gin, I'm all for living your best life, especially when adding two children and a cat to the mix!
